About
What is SixSixteen?
SixSixteen is a Sunday morning Bible study for singles centered on in-depth study of a book of the Bible. Our current study is the book of Revelation. We occasionally gather on a Friday (SixSixteen Friday Night) evening for worship and special events.
What does the name mean?
The name “SixSixteen” comes from Jeremiah 6:16, a verse that describes our quest to discern the truth of Scripture and walk in it:
“Thus says the Lord: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look, and ask for the ancient path, where the good way is, and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.”
Who leads SixSixteen?
SixSixteen is led by Boyd Johnson. Ingrid, his wife, and others also work to make the gatherings happen.
When and where does SixSixteen’s Bible study meet?
We meet at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings at the dowtown campus of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Room 114 (near the bookstore). We typically take a break during during the summer and during holidays. Click here to view our schedule.
Who is teaching the Bible study this week and what passage is being studied?
All but a few weeks are taught by Boyd. We are currently studying through Revelation. The teaching schedule is available here. More FAQ’s about the Bible study can be found here.
When does SixSixteen Friday Night meet?
SixSixteen Friday Night meets periodically. Click here to view scheduled gatherings.
What doctrines do you teach?
SixSixteen is a ministry of Bethlehem and is therefore under the authority of Bethlehem’s elders. Boyd, the main teacher at SixSixteen, is in full agreement with Bethlehem’s Elder Affirmation of Faith. This is important because it preserves a consistent body of doctrine in what is taught throughout Bethlehem’s services and classes and at SixSixteen. We are committed to the literal, grammatical-historical interpretation of the whole Bible.
What age group is SixSixteen for?
The gatherings exist to foster corporate worship among unmarried individuals at Bethlehem. Therefore, SixSixteen is not defined by a targeted age group. There is no age range other than post-high school.
How is SixSixteen affiliated with the other singles ministries at Bethlehem?
The various singles ministries are loosely affiliated with each other. Each ministry fulfills a different and complementary function. SixSixteen was started in 2007 because singles requested a singles-specific Bible study at the downtown campus. SixSixteen Friday Night launched in January 2008 and is the result of a merger of One Another and SixSixteen.
There are several other singles ministries we hold hands with at Bethlehem in our mutual aim of ministering to singles. See Bethlehem’s website for more details about these ministries.
