If You Suffer, You’ll be Blessed

March 29, 2008 by Boyd

After a break for Easter, SixSixteen Sunday Morning is back this week (3/30).  We will be looking at 1 Peter 3:13-17.  We are in Room 114 at the downtown campus and begin at 9 a.m.

Primarily Vertical or Horizontal?

March 21, 2008 by Boyd

SixSixteen Friday Night is this coming Friday (3/28) at 6:30 p.m.  The gathering takes place at the downtown campus in Room 52, the youth basement area.  For those who are unfamiliar with the downtown campus, we will have signs directing you where to go.  If you can’t find it, just ask someone.

Come prepared to get vertical.  Though we hope that the environment feels friendly, we created SixSixteen not as a social gathering but as a worship gathering.  To that end we orient the entire gathering vertical rather than horizontal.

One of the motivations for being intentionally vertical is that we are mindful that when some people hear “singles ministry” they automatically think “meat market.”  We can’t prevent biases nor can we prevent individuals coming with a meat market mentality.  We are aware of this and continue to recruit married people to serve singles at SixSixteen as a way to release some of the tension that can be felt by a single who comes alone.  Additionally, we try to so plan, pray, teach, greet, and worship in such a way that the dominating tone of the gathering is vertical worship.

Pray with us that SixSixteen is a night filled with intense verticality and pure, loving horizontality.  We look forward to worshipping with you.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact us through the link at the top of the page.  We’ll do our best to get back with you as time allows.

Easter Break

No SixSixteen this week (3/23) as we break for Easter.

Owl Cam

March 15, 2008 by Boyd

Preparing for SixSixteen Sunday Morning usually takes me late into the night of Saturday.  One of my very favorite websites to visit has become the one here.  It is a live-cam of a mother owl raising her young.  I particularly like it because she is always active at night and it serves as a good study break.  Perhaps you might enjoy it too.

March’s SixSixteen Friday Night

March 13, 2008 by Boyd

The theme for March 28’s SixSixteen Friday Night will be the superiority of Jesus and His Gospel over all substitutes.

Be praying that the worship gathering would help us to savor the superiority of Christ and to be fully satisfied in Him.

Bless

March 13, 2008 by Boyd

Peter told us in chapter 2 of 1 Peter that our vocation is to suffer (i.e. called to suffer).

Now, in 1 Peter 3, Peter says your vocation is to bless. . . this week (3/16) at SixSixteen.

Husbands, Wives, and Singles

March 8, 2008 by Boyd

This week we’ll be studying 1 Peter 3:1-7, a passage addressing the complex relationship of an unsaved spouse and a believing spouse.  How should singles approach a passage like this one that at first glance doesn’t seem to apply to them?  We’ll address that as we look at the passage this week (3/9).

Remember to reset your clock forward.
